Site Preparation
Site preparation is a crucial first step in building your own pickleball court. In your initial planning, we’ll help you determine some key questions:
The best location and orientation for your court on your available space
The optimal size for your court based on your goals for the space, your skill level in pickleball, and your overall budget for the project
What prep you can do on your existing land to save money before start work
Site preparation
Then, we’ll connect you with a vetted, experienced contractor that aligns with your needs. They’ll come out for an onsite visit to inspect the space and give you a proper court. Once things are finalized, site grading can begin.
This step of the process typically takes 1-2 weeks, depending on environmental factors. The site will need to be cleared of all vegetation, rocks, and debris. We’ll also excavate the area to create space for the base material pour. Finally, the land must be graded to achieve a 1-2% slope for water drainage.
It may seem like the easiest step, but this stage is absolutely essential to the construction of a quality court. Correct grading sets the foundation for a court surface that will prevent water pooling, cracks, damages, and ultimately, a poor playing surface.
